Speakers are already lined up for 17th May and 21st June. More to come on them shortly.<\/p>\n Prof. Adrian Pabst<\/strong>\u00a0will be our speaker on 4th May and\u00a0Prof. Philip Booth<\/strong>\u00a0will offer a short commentary on Adrian’s remarks.<\/p>\n Both are UK CAPPF members.<\/p>\n Please see some preparatory readings attached.<\/strong><\/p>\n Our theme will be :<\/p>\n Session 5 :\u00a0The social and political consequences of unprecedented state interventionism and the social new world (dis)order<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Topics to be addressed:<\/p>\n In terms of the discussion, I think it would be good for us to focus on the issue of the risks and opportunities arising from the ongoing, political tectonic shifts that were already underway pre-Covid, but which have been greatly accelerated by the crisis.<\/p>\n Prof. Adrian Pabst bio<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr. Adrian Pabst is a political philosopher and commentator. He is Professor of Politics at the University of Kent and Deputy Director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research. Previously he was Visiting Professor at St Mary\u2019s University Twickenham and the\u00a0Institut d\u2019Etudes Politiques de Lille<\/em>\u00a0(Sciences Po<\/em>). Since 2016 he has served as Secretary to the Academic Board of the\u00a0Fondazione Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice<\/em>. A\u00a0New Statesman<\/em>\u00a0Contributing Writer, he is the author of several books, most recently\u00a0The Politics of Virtue: Post-liberalism and the Human Future<\/em>\u00a0(2016, with John Milbank),\u00a0The Demons of Liberal Democracy<\/em>\u00a0(2019) and\u00a0Postliberal Politics: the Coming Era of Renewal<\/em>, which will be published in June 2021.\u00a0Currently\u00a0he is working together with Jon Cruddas MP on a book about rights and freedoms in the face of new threats to human dignity, and he has a new book coming out this June, called Postliberal Politics : The Coming Era of Renewal.<\/p>\n\n
